Scriptum Brooklyn is the new kid on the block in Williamsburg situated a few steps off the East River Ferry and a couple blocks from the Bedford (L) station. The space itself is beautifully done – from the garden to the lounge – the ambiance is extremely insta-worthy. We stopped in for brunch this past weekend and to say it was incredible would be an understatement.
We started off brunch with a mimosa and a Bellini.The mimosa was perfectly created with freshly squeezed orange juice. It was light and absolutely refreshing. The Bellini was made with Prosecco and peach purée and it was fabulous. I kept looking out the window wishing I was able to drink this outside during the summer, on the patio with a light breeze off the East River blowing through my hair. Guess I’ll just have to come back in a couple of months….
We started with the avocado toast and it was paired with crispy potatoes and flurry, airy scrambled eggs.
After tasting the scrambled eggs, we were really excited to get to the frittata. When it came out we both looked at each other like ‘woah, this is going to be good.’ And of course, it was. The frittata consists of leeks and vegetables and came with a side truffle vinaigrette salad and is topped with a parmesan fondue.
After the first two dishes, we were finishing our first round of drinks and they surprised us with a few of the new brunch cocktails as well as an ‘off-the-menu’ cocktail. The off-the-menu cocktail was probably the most perfect crafted cocktail I have ever tasted. The server warned us that
it was known as ‘dangerous’ due to its great taste and he was 120% right. If you find yourself at Scriptum you have to order the Snow White cocktail – it’s unreal.
Next, we were able to try the Saint Germain blueberry pancakes (with lemon-basil sorbet), Watercress salad (with vermouth apple, dried apricots, walnuts, bourbon-Honey Dressing, and a poached egg), Spaghetti Carbonara, and a smoked salmon platter. Everything was phenomenal.
Overall, we had an amazing time at Scriptum and cannot wait to come back. The homemade pasta – Spaghetti Carbonara – was the winner of brunch which makes us want to come back and try dinner!
